Sample Video
Do you love directional changes and complex leg movements? Then challenge yourself with “Dance: The Cutting Edge – Jazz Fusion: Level 2”! Jazz Squares, Port de Bras variations, Cha-Cha-Cha en Croix, Camels, Step-Touch, Windmills, Fan Kicks, and Grapevine are all done in center to encourage dancers to concentrate on the distinction between upper and lower body movements and to think one step ahead. Dancers will learn more than 100 new moves in this level! This level challenges the dancer’s leg coordination. Traditional moves, such as Battements, are made fun and flashy by adding Leg Grabs. Across the floor moves demand concentration as dancers learn upper and lower body opposition through Triplets and Fan Kicks. Single turns are practiced in progressive combinations and advanced tricks, such as the ever-popular Switch Leap, are introduced. Dancers even start preparing for complex turning jumps such as Axles and turns such as A La Secondés! Our Level 2 video series will leave your dancer enjoying turns, kicks, and leaps, utilizing upper-level isolations technique, and much more!
Instructor Kimberly Beck Thomson is a third-generation dancer with more than 35 years of experience as a studio owner, performer, choreographer, and instructor. Kimberly puts a necessary emphasis on the student’s knowledge of foundation. It is the belief here at Dance: The Cutting Edge that a solid foundation is vital for proper progression and injury prevention.
