“Dance: The Cutting Edge – Primary Ballet for Tots Vol. I” is presented in an animated setting with appropriate material for ages 3 through 6 years old. Tots benefit greatly from Pre-Ballet class because it helps to work on various life skills, counting, (in measures of 8), musicality, listening, paying attention to detail, discipline, and goal setting. This is a wonderful introduction to basic rhythm patterns, shapes, and classical ballet steps. Our “Primary Ballet” series should be used with all of our other dance series’, as Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance! Volume I includes more than 40 steps for dance work on center floor, along with progression movement across the floor. Steps demonstrated include Flowers Blooming, Rainbow, Dutch Girl, Jumping Over Puddle, Princess Walks, Elephant Walks, and more!
The instructor for this video is Sofia Arencibia, who grew up training intensively at Artistic Dance Center, where she is now the artistic director. She performed lead roles in the Nutcracker and many variations from classic works such as La Bayadere, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Napoli, and more. She also performed pas de deux roles in classical works including Swan Lake, Paquita, and more. Sofia earned many accolades in national competitions such as the American Dance Competition and Youth America Grand Prix, where she attended The New York finals. She launched her First business, Movement Miami, in 2019.
Syllabus
DTCE’s Ballet for Tots Vol. I: Animated course is a wonderful introduction to basic rhythm patterns, shapes, and classical ballet steps. This course will greatly benefit dancers ages 3 through 6 by teaching self and body awareness, counting and mathematics (in measures of 8), musicality, listening, paying attention to details, discipline, and goal setting. The Syllabus contains fun-filled exercises to help young dancers reach their developmental milestones, and build classical ballet skills while also improving large motor skills. A wide variety of exercises are included in both center floor work and progression movement across the floor. You can follow the full course guide, or mix and match to create your own class from over 40 exciting steps like Flowers Blooming, Rainbow, Dutch Girl, Jumping Over Puddle, Princess Walks, Elephant Walks, and more!
