All Ethnic African: Beginner
Sample Video
DTCE’s All Ethnic- African: Beginner course is inspired by a wide variety of the musical and movement styles of countries located south of the Sahara Desert. African dance is rooted to the floor and has a sense of weight to its movements. A main component of African dance is drumming, which drives the rhythm, mood, and purpose of each dance. The African style challenges dancers to be skilled in isolations and articulated movement, creating greater control as body parts must match the rhythm of the music. Many Jazz and Hip Hop styles and steps have been influenced by the roots of African dance.
