Traditional Ballet Series: Levels 1-4
Ballet is the base and building block of all great dancers. Our “Traditional Ballet” curriculum is designed for the beginner to grow into a professional. The series delves into proper technique with emphasis on body alignment and posture, classical ballet vocabulary and class etiquette, and developing the dancer to their fullest potential – not only in ballet, but in all forms of dance! The instructor offers detailed breakdowns of each move, offers corrections for common mistakes, and has students demonstrate exercises and new material. Students will learn over 140 steps throughout this series!
Our “Traditional Ballet” video series is full of superb learning and teaching tools stemming from the artistic vision of Elizabeth Acuña Nuevo, owner and director of Artistic Dance Center located in Doral, Florida. Dance: The Cutting Edge is honored to work with Elizabeth. She has performed many classical and contemporary works such as Giselle and Sleeping Beauty. She began teaching at age 15, and within three years was promoted to Assistant Director of a prominent ballet school in Miami. Elizabeth teaches Levels 1-4 alongside Nadine Barton.
Nadine is currently in her fourth season with the Alabama Ballet, performing soloist and corps de ballet roles in works such as Don Quixote and Coppelia. She is currently commissioned to set new work with Alabama Ballet. She teaches Ballet, Contemporary, Pointe Variations, and Jazz at studios in both Florida and Alabama. Nadine is a Master Teacher and judge with Florida Dance Masters, and has additionally been granted many choreographic opportunities with the Alabama School of Fine Arts and AROVA Contemporary Ballet.
