Traditional Ballet: Level 2

Sample Video

Dancers in “Dance: The Cutting Edge – Traditional Ballet: Level 2” should have full knowledge of Level 1. Ballet class etiquette, self-discipline, focus, grace, and respect for the art are continually emphasized. Advanced patterns in en Croix are introduced at the barre and the backend of the traditional barre pattern is substituted with more complicated jumps, such as Changements. Adagio is lengthened, Arabesque is now done in center, and so are Pirouettes. Advanced jumps such as Assemblés and Sissonnes are added to Petit Allegro. Chainés, and other turns, are introduced across the floor, and students are now learning their Grande Allegro with Saut de Chat leaps. Full turnout is stressed when appropriate.

The instructor offers detailed breakdowns of each move, offers corrections for common mistakes, and has students demonstrate exercises and new material. Ballet artistry, poise, grace, and presentation are benefits of this level. Our “Traditional Ballet” video series is full of superb learning and teaching tools stemming from the artistic vision of Elizabeth Acuña Nuevo, owner and director of Artistic Dance Center located in Doral, Florida. Elizabeth teaches Levels 1-4 alongside Nadine Barton. Nadine is currently in her fourth season with the Alabama Ballet, performing soloist and corps de ballet roles in works such as Don Quixote and Coppelia.
