Jazz Fusion: Level 3 Vol. I-II

Sample Video

This advanced level of “Dance: The Cutting Edge – Jazz Fusion: Level 3” is focused on educating dancers in being open to new and complex combinations and “how-to” structure. It truly focuses on complexity. Basic movements are brought together to form more advanced ones, such as Coupé Turns to Arabesque. Simple moves such as Pas de Bourreés and Chassés are now made challenging by alternating and turning them in across the floor combinations. Body awareness is focused in some across the floor combinations with isolations such as contractions. Students will learn more than 100 new skills in Level 3! Style and the art of dancing through every movement is focused on, as well as the dancer’s Walk, Chug, and Drag across the floor. Students start to learn the use of levels by taking Fan Kicks and Pitches to the floor. Dancers are working on pizzazz with stunts like Tilt Grabs and Reverse Illusion Tilts. They also learn explosive and picture worthy jumps such as Firebirds, Calypsos, and Tilt Jumps – all three of which are dancers’ favorites! The “language of Jazz” does not change with time; rather, it blends in and becomes more adaptable.

Instructor Kimberly Beck Thomson is a third-generation dancer with more than 35 years of experience as a studio owner, performer, choreographer, and instructor. She began her love affair with dance as a small child under the tutelage of her mother, Danie Beck, child prodigy on Broadway.
